Our client is a producer of functional ingredients primarily sold to producers of food and beverage products. The Account Executive/Business Developer will work closely with R&D, Marketing, and Management to implement technical solutions, while promoting the value proposition for the customers. This position engages in extensive consultative selling and technical direct marketing to develop significant customer interest in, and sales of, specialty ingredients and services offered by the Food Ingredients Unit. Primary objectives are pre- and post-sale technical support, technology transfer, and business development for the established target markets. Successful candidates must possess advanced interpersonal skills for effective listening, consulting, and building and maintaining trust-based relationships with our customers and partners. Main Responsibilities:Serve as the liaison between groups such as Marketing and the R&D teams to rapidly grow revenue through the development and leadership of customer projects within the assigned target application categories of the Food marketBuild strong business relationships and provide sustainable solutions to meet our customer's and partner's challengesCommunicate company's commitment to, and passion for, developing innovative solutions for the industries we serveProvide customers with timely, clear, and easy-to-understand information about our uniquely differentiated product innovations, solutions, and servicesCreate specific customer project objectives to attain strategic long-term, mid-term, and short-term sales targetsProvide technical and market opportunity leadership for one or more specific application categories within the Business UnitGather and analyze customer needs and interests; identify new application opportunities for existing and new products/services Communicate openly with colleagues to ensure timely understanding of customer needs, market trends, and business opportunitiesFacilitate the development and implementation of company's next generation ingredients and innovative solutionsDevelop technical documentation and sales tools for the Business Unit's products and marketsManage contacts with customers, identify their needs & propose technical solutionsPromote the company's priority solutions to a selected range of customers in order to ensure growth and generate additional margin Qualifications:Minimum of BS degree in food science, chemistry, chemical engineering, business, or related field (MS preferred; MBA is a plus)5+ years proven experience in the food industry required, including demonstrated knowledge in food formulation and solution-providing knowledgeIngredient industry experience in customer-facing roles with applied R&D technical experience strongly preferredExperience providing technical or applications support in the food industryAbility to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize to meet deadlinesAbility to independently problem solve and exercise good judgmentAbility to take initiative and be self-motivated, result-oriented, and committed to the project Ability to adopt a business-mindset and to work cross-functionally Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present information in a clear, concise, and persuasive mannerConfidence to work effectively with minimal supervision and is comfortable working in a dynamic, changing environmentDemonstrated passion and skill sets for self-directed customer interaction, effective customer development, and problem-solving activitiesWillingness to travel as needed to perform the role For the successful candidate we offer a generous base salary, annual bonus, 401K with company match, health and life insurance, and much more.
