Job Summary 13;
The Clinical Support Associate (CSA) performs delegated clinical and administrative duties in a medical support role within their scope of practice and consistent with their education, training, and experience. This position does not permit the administration of any medications.
Job Responsibilities 13;
:Performs assigned clerical duties including but not limited to registration, scheduling, answering telephones, chart preparation, and patient appointment confirmations.
:Enters hospital charges for studies performed.
:Facilitates the provision of care to patients and families by accurately documenting clinical information as per National Patient Safety Goals and CHOP Departmental Policies.
:Uses an age appropriate approach to obtain physical measurement which includes heights, weights, blood pressures, head circumference, temperatures, pulse, respiratory rate, and documents according to department standards.
:Performs basic laboratory tests on the premises within POCT standards, maintains refrigerator and QC logs.
:Collects and prepares laboratory specimens which may include phlebotomy, according to health system standards.
:Performs EKG testing, Holter Monitor placement, hydrogen breath test, orthopedic casting.
:Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments using health system standards.
:Utilizes infection prevention and control procedures according to health system policy
:Stocks patient examination rooms.
:Cleaning and disinfection of medical devices and equipment. This may include pre:cleaning, low level disinfection, high level disinfection and or sterilization.
:Must successfully complete: on line training; initial competency training, initial competency return demonstration and annual competency test and return demonstration. Compiles with standards set forth by all applicable regulatory agencies and CHOP policies and procedures.
:Maintains patient areas while assuring compliance standards set forth by regulatory agencies.
:Manages supplies and equipment in a fiscally responsible manner.
:Recognizes and respects cultural diversity while being sensitive to the individuals ability to communicate.
:Prioritizes and performs multiple tasks.
:Floats to other areas as needed.
:Demonstrates health care informatics competency in order to manage patient care, outcome data and current and emerging health care technology.
:Basic computer competency, including the effective use of patient care devices, computers, computer software programs such as e:mail and word processing programs.
:Information literacy, including the effective use of the intranet and internet to find electronic resources for patient care.
:Information management skills, including the effective use of the electronic health record and clinical information systems.
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations 13;
CPR (90 days) 13;
Required Education and Experience 13;
Required Education: High School/GED. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
Required Experience: One year of work experience, preferably in medical office setting
Preferred Education, Experience and Cert/Lic 13;
Preferred Licenses/certificates/registrations: AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or American Medical Technologist / Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) highly preferred.
