Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Vice President, Clinical Content, the person in the position of Director, Clinical eLearning, is responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership for the development, launch, and distribution of clinical professional eLearning courses, resources, and experiences that meet the needs of Elsevier’s clients in the acute- and post-acute healthcare organization market. The Director of eLearning will work closely with the Vice President of Clinical Content, Executive Clinical Editor, Director of Continuing Education, Clinical Editors, Project Managers, Instructional Designers, as well as Sales, Marketing, and Technology staff, to ensure the success of the Clinical eLearning Program.

Main Responsibilities Include:

• Oversee and manage Clinical eLearning and Clinical Skills contractor spend
• Onboard new clinical editors to the organizational structure and administrative policies and procedures
• Troubleshoot technology issues
• Work with project managers and technology product managers to resolve technology issues
• During product development
• After product launch
• Based on client feedback
• Develop new products

In collaboration with the Executive Clinical Editor:

• Develop the strategy, approach, and format of new proprietary and co-developed products
• Ensure that all required activities are completed by launch, including hot sheet and competitive grid, sales and client services training, etc.
• Launch partner products
• In collaboration with the Executive Clinical Editor:

• Evaluate potential distribution products as to the quality and appropriateness for the market
• Respond to non-technical product queries from the eLearning team, sales, marketing, and clients when the product owner is unavailable or needs assistance
• Facilitate sales
• Conduct product demos in the absence of the product owner and as needed
• In collaboration with marketing and sales training manager, develop sales tools to promote usage, best practices, and customer retention
• Partner with marketing counterparts
• In collaboration with Executive Clinical Editor, meet on a regular basis with marketing manager(s) to discuss product launches, sales tools and collateral, etc.
• Attend one nursing or health professions trade show per year to network and assess market educational needs
• Develop and improve product development and other processes
• Identify and implement product development and other process improvements in collaboration with Executive Clinical Editor, Project Manager, and learning technology counterparts
• Work to collaborate across teams
• Work with Executive Clinical Editor and CE team to formalize a CE review and update process and a method of formalizing the handling of quarterly reviews/evaluations.

Job Requirements:

• Licensed Registered Nurse with 8 to 10 years of clinical experience required
• Master’s degree (MSN or MBA) required
• Experience with eLearning products
• Minimum of 5 years publishing industry experience
• Excellent writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Must be detail-oriented, decisive, and capable of meeting deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
