Do you understand the Bible when reading and studying it?

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

[If you want the wisdom to understand God's word, ask Him for that wisdom].

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

[You search the scriptures daily so you can become familiar with God's word. How can you tell if someone is deceiving you if you know little or nothing about the scriptures? You wouldn't be able to tell. Alleviate the problem through personal, diligent study of His word, daily, like the Bereans].

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

[If it doesn't match His word it is a false teaching; don't believe it, forget it. If it does match with His word, hold on to it, remember it].

He commands us to study His word! See 2 Timothy 2:15. I use the KJV Bible only.
