A Mother’s Will

Cast and Crew Call For Short Film – Based on the book A Mothers Will at

Set in the Philippines during the 1970s, Mel is a street vendor who seeks deliverance from financial destitution. She gets advice to marry an American. Mel must decide if she is living to live a life of truth or one based on lies.

Charles – 20s -30s male, clean cut, military type (needed for 2 days). Madly in love with Mel but his hair-trigger temper lands him in prison.

Mel – 20s-30s female, Asian (needed for 2 days). Realizes Charles’ thirst for revenge stems from the heart, but must decide if she is willing to testify to set him free or maintain her beliefs as a humanitarian.

FBI Agents – 30s-50s male, 1970s retro look such as sideburns, thick moustache (needed for 1 day in Northeast Philly). One good cop, one bad cop interrogating Charles about violent incident that landed him in jail.

Security Guards – 30s-50s male, bodyguard types. Must have black pants and shoes. Will provide cop uniform (needed for 1 day in Northeast Philly). One security guard Bill takes a liking to Charles while his partner keeps a wary eye on the prisoner.

Hair and Make-up artist – Set in the 1970s, shooting on high definition. Need make-up for battered victim with bruised eye and scarred lips. Must also be able to glue on moustaches, sideburns for 1970s look (needed for 2 days).

Production Assistant – Able to take direction and open to take on an array of responsibilities. No experience necessary. Must have a car and active driver’s license (needed for 2 days).

Please email submissions. This is a paid gig, non-union shoot. Plan to film for 2 days in June. One day in Northeast Philly, the second in Norristown, PA.
