JOB TITLE: Associate Director of Student Financial Services DEPARTMENT: Student Financial Services REPORTS TO: Assistant Vice President (AVP) and Director of Student Financial Services Position Summary: The Associate Director of Student Financial Services will serve as a strategic partner with AVP for Enrollment Management/Student Financial Services for the administration and coordination of Federal, State, and institutional financial aid programs. They will supervise the daily operations of the financial aid office, train staff members and counsel students concerning financial aid and student billing and serves as the lead technology super user. They will also lead the Office of Student Financial Services in the absence of the AVP/Director. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises daily operation of financial aid office and ensures compliance with established federal, state, local and institutional regulations and policies. Primary contact for academic and administrative departments concerning financial aid and student billing. Works with the Bursar regarding student account matters, Advancement regarding named scholarships and Admissions regarding entering class. Manage a student caseload and responds to questions and appeals regarding financial aid decisions. Manage the federal and institutional work-study programs. Serves as lead financial aid technology super user for the office. Works with the AVP/Director to strategically review University financial aid processes, systems and approaches. Assists with updating policies and procedures manual. Prepares various reports and reconciliations of funding to agencies. Oversees named/endowed scholarship program. Presents and Participates in outreach activities within and outside the university. Lead the Office of Student Financial Services in the absence of the AVP. Lead, train and mentor staff. Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree is required At least four years of direct experience in financial aid administration. Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations and reporting related to the delivery of student assistance including Title IV, PHEAA, VA, FERPA, and IRS. Experience with ERP systems, preferably Ellucian Colleague and other systems including COD and NSLDS. Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously required while also prioritizing work. Prior supervisory experience. Skilled in database development and management. Knowledge of general statistics and analysis. Attention to detail is essential.
